You Feel That You Don’t Get An Optimum Result? Know Your Style Of Study

Understanding the study style is an important thing in order to enhance your potential and your study results. By knowing your dominant study style, you can found the best method or way of study so your study can be more effective and efficient, hence the result will be more optimum.

There are several categories about study style. This time, we will discuss about the study style based on VAK model, those are visual, auditory and kinesthetic. According to Sutanto (2006), the way of someone studies can be divided into three ways, and will be explained as follows:

Visual Style

The one with a dominant visual style will be absorb the information that one reads/sees. He will understand the information easily if the information contains picture, color, diagram, map, etc. Those who are in this type of style need to see the real thing to make them believe and understand about something. They will remember someone’s face better than its name. they also tend to maintain the eye contact when having a conversation with others. Those with visual style will like reading than listening. Most of them with this study style will have a neat, detailed and tidy handwriting. The weak point of visual people is that they are not a good listener when they are communicating, tend to be passive in a discussion, and need an example before they can do something.

Auditory Style

Those with this auditory style will absorb the information easily by listening to it. As for them, verbal language is the easiest way to understanding the information. They usually like to talk and really like to listen to others. Different from the visual people, auditory people will remember other names easier and recognize other voice, but they will find it difficult to remember other’s face. While reading, they tend to whisper to themselves. While communicating, they will be more focused to listen to others than to see their opponent. Auditory people tend to be more talkative and very active in a discussion. However, those with auditory style usually don’t feel interested to take a look on their surroundings. They are too lazy to read and have a difficulty to understand a written guidance.

Kinesthetic Style

This kind of style tends to utilizing a physical movement. They will be very happy and easy to understand if the information is demonstrated beforehand or they will imagine someone else do something that they will learn. Kinesthetic learners usually use their sense of touch to be the receptor of the information. They are very sensitive to the touch and can understand the information without having to read its explanation. They absorb the information easily by making a movement or touch something directly rather than watch or listen to it. They like to express their feeling through a physical contact and will try to do something new by doing it directly. The cannot remember something related to a geographic thing unless they have been on that place before. While reading, they usually use their hand as a pointer. Their weak points for the kinesthetic people are hard to understand the abstract things, not really like to discuss as they more like to make an action and they also tend to have a bad handwriting.

One of the ways to know about our study style is by doing the finger print test, another method is psych test.  From the finger print test results, you can understand about your study style tendency. As a matter of fact, you can possess those three study style, but a certain style must be more dominant than others. So, you can conclude that that dominant type is going to help you to maximize your study results. This finger print test can also be an indicator to know your psychologic character, whether are you a sanguine, melancholic, choleric, or phlegmatic. You can also adjust your study style based on these four characters.
